Coffee Steak Rub Recipe

What happens when a grill master and a barista get together? Probably something like this spectacular Coffee Steak Rub recipe. With ground coffee, brown sugar, paprika and a few other ingredients, it's the perfect "blend" of spicy, sweet and savory. It's also a great way to elevate a flank or skirt steak. After grilling to your preferred doneness, make sure to let the steak rest for about five minutes. Slice it in thin strips (always cutting against the grain) and serve on a platter with grilled vegetables for a delicious meal any time of year.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. ground coffee
  • 1 tsp. table salt
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp. paprika
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper (fresh ground)
  • Steak (flank or skirt)

Directions

  • Combine all seasonings.
  • Rub generously onto both sides of steak.
  • Grill steak for 3–5 minutes per side on high heat or until desired doneness.
  • Let steak rest 5 minutes before cutting.
